NR Barton are taking part in the HW Moon Toyota Wigan Half Marathon on Sunday 22 March to raise monies for two great local causes; Joining Jack and Wigan Youth Zone.

Wigan Youth Zone is a purpose built, state-of-the-art youth facility in Wigan town centre which opened in June 2013. It offers young people from across Wigan the opportunity to meet friends, have new experiences, learn new skills and access the support they need to develop and achieve their potential.

Joining Jack is a founding charity partner of Duchenne UK. Joining Jack and the Duchenne Children’s Trust came together in 2016 to form Duchenne UK, a charity dedicated to funding and accelerating research and treatments solely for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). The Joining Jack charity was founded in 2012 by Alex and Andy Johnson, after their son Jack, then aged four, had been diagnosed with DMD.

A four strong team, comprising Paul Farrington, Louise Harrison, Lynn Hassan and Jonathan Mackie will be taking on the grueling 13.1 mile course and hoping to raise as much money as possible for the two charities.

‘Team Captain’ Louise Harrison commented “We are all pounding the pavements in training for the event. Hopefully our hard work will pay off and we will raise funds for these two great causes. We will need all the support we can get on the day, so please do come down and cheer us round the course”
