NR Barton delighted to announce four senior level promotions

NR Barton are delighted to announce the promotions of Jonathan Mackie, Paul Murphy, Andrew Pilling and Paul Taylor to the position of Senior Manager.

In light of the Coronavirus pandemic is it clear that the world is changing and NR Barton are working hard to continue to push the boundaries and remain at the forefront of accountancy and client service.

The promotions are a recognition of hard work, dedication, and sharp mindedness in ensuring that the firm continues to thrive throughout these current trading climate.

Jonathan Mackie

Jonathan qualified as a chartered accountant in 2014, having previously completed a Mathematics degree at Manchester University. As a Senior Manager in the Audit and Accounts team, Jonathan has a wide range of interactions with clients, such as preparing their accounts and company tax returns, auditing our larger clients, preparing personal tax returns and many other ad hoc tasks. Jonathan has coined the nickname of the ‘office geek’ due to his computer competence. He is self-taught on Excel and enjoys getting the most out of a spreadsheet, whether that is with formula, or using the VBA code in the background.

Away from the office, Jonathan has a wife and two young children who take up most of his time (and sleep), any spare time he has is spent watching Wigan Warriors, or his local team Chorley FC. Having recently retired from Sunday League football he has to now live vicariously through Chorley FC.

Paul Murphy

Paul started his accountancy career at the age of 18 as an accounts apprentice with a Manchester firm. Two years later he joined NR Barton and qualified as an ACCA in 2012. Paul’s expertise lies in accounts preparation, audit, and tax compliance. He works hard to build relationship with his clients across a wide range of sectors and specialisms.

Paul is married and away from the office he enjoys a number of sports. He is a member of the Wigan Harriers running club and has recently completed the Manchester Marathon in an impressive 2:55.31. Paul also has a season ticket for the Wigan Warriors and has a golf handicap of 11.

Andrew Pilling

Andrew joined NR Barton as a Manager in 2014. He graduated from Aston University before qualifying as an Accountant in 1999. After qualifying, he worked for a practice in Preston before taking the decision to join NR Barton. Throughout his career, Andrew has worked with a wide range of clients providing various accountancy, audit and taxation services and this has allowed him to develop a broad range of knowledge and experience. At NR Barton, Andrew works with a variety of clients including a number of the firm’s larger audit clients and those with group structures.

In his spare time, Andrew has a keen interest in football and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Paul Taylor

Paul joined the firm in 2009 having completed his training with regional firm in the North West and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the same year. Paul has a wide ranging portfolio which includes both small and medium sized companies as well as individuals. He provides a number of services to these clients including both auditing and accountancy as well as advising on both personal and business taxation.

In his spare time Paul is a keen sports fan, especially football and also enjoys eating out as well as live comedy.
